We believe that access to quality healthcare should be a right for all people. In America healthcare is unaffordable for many. All the other advanced nations in the world believe healthcare is a human right. We can and should adopt Medicare for All. There are efforts to establish it on the federal and on the New York state level. We support both.

The Covid-19 Pandemic Exposes Fatal Health Inequities--The financialization of healthcare has raised its cost and that costs lives.

The Canadian single-payer healthcare system began in one province, Saskatchewan, in 1947. Its population was about 830,000. The program worked and the other provinces adopted similar plans. If we can't get Medicare for All through Congress, why not create it in New York? A plan which works in one state will spread to others and generate pressure to establish it on a national level.
